I got interested in the topic of saving farmland from development when I started working with Terra Brockman, who founded an organization called The Land Connection to save more farmland from housing development--and train new organic farmers to farm that land. In the what-goes-around-comes-around category, this latest turn of the wheel here in Illinois points up how financial-crisis fallout is aiding at least part of this effort. I hope this means good things for our farmers (especially our organic farmers).
