It's prize season in the literary world, and one prize we always keep a close eye on here is the Hurston/Wright Legacy awards, described as such by the Hurston/Wright folks:

The Hurston/Wright Legacy Award™ is the first national award presented to published writers of African descent by the national community of Black writers. This award consists of prizes for the highest quality writing in the categories of Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry.

Rosalyn Story's Wading Home is one of the nominees for this year's fiction award, and she is in very distinguished company on this year's short list. Don't just take our word for it that Wading Home is one of the year's highest-quality books of fiction--take the word of the Hurston/Wright nominating committee.
