Alex Bogusky

Alex Bogusky started at what was then called Crispin and Porter Advertising in 1989 as an art director. He became Creative Director of the agency five years later and was named a partner at the re-named Crispin Porter + Bogusky in 1997. Under his direction, the agency has become the world's most awarded over the last few years. Alex has been profiled in Luerzer's Archive, Communication Arts, Graphis, Adweek, Adage, Business 2.0, Fast Company (June 2008 cover story) and Business Week. His work has been featured in, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Newsweek, TIME, Wired, Advertising Age and Creativity as well as on national television and radio. In 2002, Alex was inducted into the American Advertising Federation's Hall of Achievement.

Rick Browne

Rick Browne is the creator, host, and executive producer of public television's popular Barbecue America TV series, which has aired for seven seasons on more than 230 public TV stations nationwide. He is a renowned barbecue and grilling expert and the author of several cookbooks, including The Best Barbecue on Earth, The Barbecue America Cookbook, Barbecue America: A Pilgrimage in Search of America's Best Barbecue. He spent 25 years as a photojournalist covering breaking news, entertainment personalities, travel, and culinary subjects across the globe and his writing and photography have been published in a wide variety of domestic and foreign magazines, including Time, Newsweek, People, USA Today, Islands, Travel Holiday, Reader's Digest, Sunset, Burda, Bon Appetit, Saveur, Maxim, and Travel & Leisure.
He has made multiple TV appearances on "Fox & Friends," the “Today” show, “Live with Regis & Kelly,” and CNN. A naturalized U.S. citizen born in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, he spent the past eight years researching barbecue across the North America and 125 countries around the world, by visiting and interviewing dozens of pitmasters and backyard barbecue enthusiasts for his books and television programs. He's a member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals, the Canadian Barbecue Smokers Association, The Society of American Travel Writers, the National Barbecue Association, the International Bar-B-Que Cookers Association, the Kansas City Barbecue Society, the World Barbecue Association, and is a founding member of the California Barbecue Association.

Madelaine Bullwinkel

Madelaine Bullwinkel is a graduate of LAcademie de Cuisine in Bethesda, Maryland, and Smith College. She runs her home-based cooking school Chez Madelaine, now open for over 30 years.

Sanford D'Amato

Sanford D'Amato graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1974. In December 1989, he opened Sanford Restaurant on the former site of his father and grandfather's grocery store. It has long been recognized as one of the most respected and top-ranked restaurants in the nation.

Larry E. Davis

Dr. Larry E. Davis is the dean of the School of Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh, where is the Donald M. Henderson Professor. He is the author of several academic works on interracial group dynamics, the impact of race, gender, and class on interpersonal interactions, African American families, and African American youth. He lives in Pittsburgh with his wife and three sons.

Terrance Dean

Terrance Dean is the author of the Essence best-selling memoir, Hiding In Hip Hop: On the Down Low in the Entertainment Industry from Music to Hollywood (Simon & Schuster/Atria Books – May 2008) and Reclaim Your Power! A 30-Day Guide to Hope, Healing and Inspiration for Men of Color, (Random House/Villard May 2003). A 2005 John Seigenthaler Journalism Fellow from Vanderbilt University, he also contributed to the anthologies, Souls of My Brothers and Always Too Soon. He has made numerous national and local television appearances and has written for Essence, VIBE, The New York Sun, The Tennessean, The Advocate, and Fatherhood Today, among other publications. He lives in Detroit.

Dave DeWitt

Dave DeWitt has written or coauthored more than 30 books on hot peppers and spicy foods and edited two different magazines devoted to those subjects. He is an adjunct associate professor at New Mexico State University, where he is also a board member of the Chile Pepper Institute. His media company, Sunbelt Shows, Inc., has produced the annual National Fiery Foods and Barbecue Show since 1988.
