There’s not a lot I can recommend this for, except its willingness to take on–however ineptly–what I think has been the biggest cultural shift in America over the past 15 years. Yes, its perspective is confined to the pop music world, and yes, the author’s conception of his topic seems almost cripplingly blinkered. But where are you seeing writers and essayists taking on the radical way that artists’ relationship to commerce has changed over this time?
