I got interested in the topic of saving farmland from development when I started working with Terra Brockman, who founded an organization called The Land Connection to save more farmland from housing development–and train new organic farmers to farm that land. In the what-goes-around-comes-around category, this latest turn of the wheel here in Illinois points up how financial-crisis fallout is aiding at least part of this effort. I hope this means good things for our farmers (especially our organic farmers).
